Karissa Underwood is a student at the University of Colorado Denver, in the midst of earning a Master of Arts in English with a certification in women/gender studies and an endorsement as a school librarian. Karissa currently teaches 8th grade Language Arts in Cherry Creek School District in Denver, Colorado. While fascinated with many genres and criticisms, she is especially interested in gender roles within science fiction, having recently written about Margaret Atwood’s Oryx and Crake and Alex Garland’s Ex Machina, as well as M.R. Carey’s The Girl With the All the Gifts.
