Anastasia Klimchynskaya

Anastasia Klimchynskaya is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute on the Formation of Knowledge at the University of Chicago. Her current book project focuses on articulating how the new technoscientific paradigm brought about by industrialization gave rise to the literary form of science fiction. She has presented on science fiction, AI, Star Trek, fandom history, and transmedia storytelling at various conferences and conventions, including Star Trek: Mission NYC, Escape Velocity, and Science in Public, and recently taught a course titled "Living in a Science Fiction World," which used sci-fi to tackle contemporary sociopolitical, legal, and technological issues. She has been on the Philcon programming committee since 2015, and is currently Deputy Head of Programming.
