Moira O’Keeffe received her Ph.D. in Communication from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. Her contribution to the Journal of Science Fiction explores how informal science education can be tied to science fiction media. She is an Associate Professor at Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY, where she examines the cultural influence of popular entertainment media and how science is portrayed in popular contexts. She also works in the areas of visual communication and digital media studies. Dr. O'Keeffe's publications include "Science Fiction and the Big Questions," and "Lieutenant Uhura and the Drench Hypothesis.”
