andré carrington is currently Assistant Professor of African American literature at Drexel University. His first book, Speculative Blackness: The Future of Race in Science Fiction (Minnesota, 2016) interrogates the cultural politics of race in the fantastic genres through studies of science fiction fanzines, comics, film and television, and other speculative fiction texts. His writing has also appeared in Black Perspectives for the African American Intellectual History Society, Souls journal, Lateral: Journal of the Cultural Studies Association, and numerous anthologies such as The Blacker the Ink: Constructions of Blackness in Comics and Sequential Art and Black Gay Genius: Answering Joseph Beam's Call. He is co-founder, with Jen Camper, of the Queers & Comics international conference.
