June Pulliam

At the tender age of eight, June Pulliam was permitted to stay up by herself and watch George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead. She was so traumatized by the experience, that she now teaches courses on horror fiction and film at Louisiana State University, where she also teaches classes about Young Adult fiction and gender studies. Pulliam is the author of Monstrous Bodies: Feminine Power in Young Adult Horror Fiction, as well as many articles on Young Adult fiction of the fantastic, Roald Dahl, and zombie studies. Additionally, Pulliam has authored (with Anthony Fonseca) three volumes of Hooked on Horror, as well as the books Read On . . . HorrorThe Encyclopedia of the ZombieThe Walking Dead in Popular Culture and Myth:  Richard Matheson: Stories, Scripts, Novels, and Twilight Zone Episodes; and The Ghost in Legend and Popular Culture. Pulliam lives a creaky old house in Baton Rouge, dodging the fierce heat and humidity of the Third Coast in order to paint, bike, and do yoga.
